Here is a collection of images from the incredibly talented artists who have chosen my photos as a reference for their own creative visions. I wish to thank each and every one of them for selecting my photos as a reference from which they can create unique and varied art.

About Me

Thanks for coming to my page.

I'm a professional photographer and digital artist and over the years have built an extensive stock and art reference file. Although many images are available on DA are free of charge, I have decided to offer my art reference images at a very small, reasonable price.

Why?

1. This is my profession, not a hobby. I enjoy creating reference photos of models which I use in my own photography and art. I pay my models (usually $100 an hour) and since I only use a small fraction of my own photos, I would rather have other artists use them instead of just "gathering dust" on my hard drive.

2. Popular photos on DA are downloaded hundreds, even thousands of times - like clip art. As beautiful as many of the images are the more popular ones can be found in an endless number of artists portfolios. By comparison, my images on average are downloaded a few dozen times. This means much greater exclusivity for you, and new artwork that does not look like everyone else's.

3. Professional documentation and licensing. Proper model releases and copyright licenses are extremely important to visual artists. Every image I post online has a copyright license and available model release.

4. It's affordable. While typical photo agencies charge MUCH higher fees and have very limited licensing, you will find use of my art reference photos to be far less expensive and restrictive.

I hope you find my art reference photos useful. If you have any questions drop me a line!

Regards,
Len

Watchers

Greetings all,

I've received a few letters asking me about my photography.  Although my Art Reference Source ID is used for the photos I provide as stock art reference images, I do (believe it or not) actually use my own photos now and then to create my own art and photomanipulations.    In fact, it's because I enjoy creating fantasy images that I love seeing what other artists do with the same (or similar) photos that I have used myself.  It's fun to see the same image used as a starting point for art that goes in so many different visual and conceptual directions.

From time to time I will be adding my own photomanipulations and original photos to show my original concept for the images I am now providing as art reference.   For a typical photo shoot, I will take 300 - 700 photos and only use 2-3 of those.  So that's one of the reasons I put the rest online as art reference.  I'd rather see them used than "gathering dust" on my hard drive.

White I certainly don't think my artwork compares with most of the images I have seen created by the amazing artists online,  they are the raison d'etre for the photos being taken in the first place and my fantasy images are a nice break from my more day to day work including portraits, annual reports, travel photos, etc.

I'm very happy that my reference photos are being so well received, and more important, used by so many artists, and I look forward to providing you with high quality reference images at reasonable cost.

Regards,
Len

Hello again ArtRefernceSource! :) They finally told me what the issue was-- I had not enabled 'viewing mature content' on my 'Settings' page, and therefore the 'Download' button wasn't visible! So... I have purchased the Amber Fire Worship page, and will be certain to send you the link to the results once I've finished the piece I have in mind for one of the poses... they are very nice, good quality shadows! I hope sharing this will assist others in the future- and thank you again! (It will be a while before I've finished...O_o )

Hi there!

I have a question because I could not find anything explicit on your page and did not want to violate any of your rules.

Is it ok to use the pictures in your gallery as pose references for pencil drawings? Nothing commercial.
Of course I will provide a link to your gallery if I upload a picture to my gallery.

Greetings

Well, I'm assuming you want to license (purchase) the image, and then use it as a reference. And of course, that would be ok. All downloads include a copyright license for the use of your final image, for both commercial and non-commercial uses.
